The professor pressed me for an answer to his ethics question. But instead of venturing a guess, I hazarded a fart. Its gestation period lengthy and its execution a mere formality, I was devastated to find it but a falling star, its reverberations no more momentous than the failed attempts of a Robert Guillaume, its aftermath no more culturally relevant than DeLuise offspring. Mel Tillis proved more forthright than my hesitant staccato delivery.
Flustered, I tried once more -- only a little too emphatically -- for the joke was then on me.
