“Italian is the only language romantic enough to express our love,” Henry would say years later, slurping noisily at the dregs of his frappe. Terri, his soul mate, would add, “That’s why we’re taking lessons at the Berlitz Center.” But it would all be a lie, because Henry and Terri would actually be actors, hired by the Berlitz Center to sit in cafes and say crap like that. So the time that Henry decided in his junior year of college to “give love a chance” would have had nothing to do with the above exchange. And the only reason I’m bringing this up is because this very moment is the median point between Henry's two statements.
