Modern Times, Vol. 3
"So if I told her once, I told her a thousand times. And that's why she had it coming."
The son just sat there. Not scared, not upset, not bewildered...just tired. Tired of this.
"I told her not to nag. Don't nag! Jee-zus. I'm just tryin' to watch the G.D. game."
Tired of the macho bravado.
"So I hit her. Not that bad. And she starts a'cryin' and a'hollerin'. Come on! 'Suck it up!' But what good does it do? She just keeps whinin' and cryin'. Tears getting all over the place. In my food almost. Sonovabitch! And now she's gone. Never to return. Good!"
The son had heard enough. He was tired of these stories. He decided to speak up.
"Ma, shut up!"
