01/14/2005 TheBuyer (5): ya.
01/14/2005 qualcomm: lesson: the mere mention of babies throws the author into apoplexy.
01/14/2005 The Rid (5): Word.
01/14/2005 qualcomm (3):
01/14/2005 The Rid: C'mon, QC. Any short where the author calls us on our shit has got to merit a five, right?
01/14/2005 qualcomm: how is he calling us on our shit?
01/14/2005 Will Disney (5):
01/14/2005 Streifenbeuteldachs (3): Frame three was great.
01/14/2005 qualcomm: therid? sir?
01/14/2005 Mr. Joshua (5): The Rid, you stupid cunt, it pains me grievously to agree with your vote.
01/14/2005 Ewan Snow (4): I enjoyed this, though not quite five star enjoyment. My favorites were panel three and the last panel. However, I am concerned that the author may not be demostrating respect for his audience. I mean that trophy is a little bit sarcastic, right? Also enjoyed how the author made the well-worn "this is not a cat" point, only to follow it up with a baby that actually *is* a baby.
01/14/2005 Mr. Pony (4): I like how the cat was drawn from life and the baby was drawn from some dark part of the author's psyche.
01/14/2005 Ewan Snow: Yes, pony, yes.
01/14/2005 qualcomm: i like how the author is calling us on our shit
01/14/2005 Mr. Pony: How is the author "calling us on our shit", qualcomm? Please, explain yourself!
01/14/2005 qualcomm: dude, it's so obvious he's calling us on our shit, i can't believe you don't see it!
01/14/2005 The Rid: Okay, I'll rephrase: The author is calling me on my shit, which is to think I'm not a stupid cunt, when in fact I am. And personally, I think you're a stupid cunt, too. But I say "Stupid cunt" with love and a heart full of whimsy.
01/14/2005 qualcomm: you don't have to be rude.
01/14/2005 Dick Vomit (4): I'd say the author's visual style is quite like Vonnegut's. And there's the asshole art. How's 'bout gettin' called out on your own shit?
01/14/2005 Dick Vomit: Zing, tit.
01/14/2005 The Rid: qualcomm, when I wrote "...personally, I think you're a stupid cunt, too," what I really meant was "You're an upstanding member of the community, Acme or otherwise."
01/14/2005 Litcube (5): 4.6. This is most definitely my flavour of humour. Much laughing in real life.
01/14/2005 Streifenbeuteldachs: I don't see five stars in this short. Are you rating it higher because it's drawn?
01/14/2005 qualcomm: (yes)
01/14/2005 TheBuyer: Streifen, also how it's drawn.
re: Pony's cat vs baby comment
01/14/2005 Litcube: Strief, QC: You think the quality of the drawing here is what's struck this deer in its headlights? Variable spikes of wit brushed with light random humour incite warm tingling sensations throughout my mid to lower torso. It struck a specific funny bone. Moreover, I humbly submit that said bone is my cockfucking bone upon which this short (or any other short) has struck, resulting in my cockfucking 5 on this particular work. It would not be cool if we all shared the same bone. Not be cool.
01/14/2005 Dick Vomit: 8==o "My cockfucking bone." 8====o
01/14/2005 Mr. Pony: 8==o ~~~ ^_^
01/14/2005 Streifenbeuteldachs: Hey, you're free to vote in whichever way you wish. I just didn't see a lot of merit to this one, as a short. I don't see a lot of merit to many of these graphical shorts, and since they always draw several 5's, I was curious what I was missing.
01/15/2005 John Slocum (3): I also feel this is bereft of content. Drawn in an interesting way, off-kilter, etc., but not very funny. I suggest the 'author' take a more solutions-oriented approach to his graphical shorts.
01/15/2005 Mr. Pony: Author, if I may ask: how directly related is this work to your experience of Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics?
01/16/2005 cuntry (3): i like the kitty and the ballsy hot pink. the drawings exceed the wordings.
01/16/2005 Jon Matza: Pony: yes, I did have UC (which I recently read) in mind when doing this. Decided on the title later b/c I, Matza, found it amusing to assert that my version (esp last panel) somehow educates the audience about what comics really mean. This is what my detractors have failed to understand and never WILL understand.
01/16/2005 qualcomm: no i get it ok
01/16/2005 Jon Matza: Look, we both know you loved this comic, brother. (It's impossible not to.) I'm sorry the "author" calls you a cunt, but in my opinion hurt feelings don't justify vengeful false votes. Given that you often espouse intellectual honesty I'm just surprised you'd let your emotions control your thinking to such an extent! Well, not surprised exactly. Just very, very disappointed. But this very disappointment will drive me to even greater heights.
