Susie had gone over Sammy’s house to work on a project for school with him and she was excited. She had a big crush on Sammy.

Sammy unlocked the door. They went inside and Susie looked around – at first, it was so cool to see where Sammy lived! But then she started to notice some things about the house. It wasn’t really that nice. The carpet seemed kind of worn out. And the furniture looked old and the pieces didn't match.

They went into the kitchen. In the corner, Susie saw a stack of folded paper bags from different stores. She looked at the bag on top. It was from the Salvation Army!

Suddenly Susie was starting to like Sammy a whole lot less.

05/9/2003 Phony Millions (4): yes -eighties for sure. Suzie has feathered hair and pre-washed jeans, and wears bubble gum lip gloss self-consciously.

04/14/2009 scoop (4): This would be useful for Mr. Joshua in his efforts to help illiterate adults learn how to read.
