“Construction paper puppets, oak tag tigers… they scope out the curriculum, scour my bulletin boards…” Mrs. Bainbridge stared out the window at the wet playground. “Rubber bands have been stretched around thumbtack triangles to map achievement… Strung up rulers from the ceiling make mobiles... Critical thinking skills are as core as excellence itself…”

The children sat patiently, silent. After a while they followed her gaze out the window. The rain didn’t let up.
